HEALING TOUCH OF MASSAGE:

Treat yourself by allowing one of our licensed massage therapists to provide you with a 60 minute general or focused therapeutic massage to alleviate your stress and facilitate healing. Massage therapy is recognized as one of the oldest methods of healing, with references in medical texts nearly 4,000 years old. The goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and well-being through hands on manipulation of soft and connective tissue. This, in conjunction with directed stretches, exercises, Chiropractor care and our other services helps create a powerful healing force.

TIPS TO ENJOYING YOUR MASSAGE:

  • Be kind to yourself. Enjoy your time out to receive the healing of a professional massage.

  • Be on time. If you arrive in a frenzied, rushed state, it will take longer to relax.

  • Prepare your body. Avoid drinking or eating large amounts just before the massage, this hampers comfort.

  • Dress for your massage. Professional draping is used so let your therapist know the amount of clothing you would like to wear. Wear what makes you comfortable and allows massage work in the areas needed.

  • Inform your therapist. Before the session, give accurate health information and let the massage therapist know what you want from the massage. During the massage session, speak up if you have any feedback on the amount of pressure, speed of movement, room temperature, music volume, lighting or other concerns.

  • Breath. Be aware of your breathing during the massage. A slow deep breath disalarms and relaxes the body.

  • Imagine your muscles becoming smooth and loose. Let your massage therapist know if you feel tightening of muscles during the massage. Your therapist can reassess the technique used and help you relax the tightening area.

  • Ease your mind. If your mind is racing you can become body centered by listening to the music, following the hands of the massage therapist and focus on how the therapeutic touch feels.

  • Transition out of your massage. Slowly get off the table to avoid dizziness, drink lots of water after the massage and if possible, allow for some open, quiet time after your massage. Give yourself time to appreciate and absorb the therapeutic effects of your massage experience.

  • Remember, massage has its greatest benefits over time. The therapeutic effects of massage are cumulative, so the more often a person gets a massage, the better he or she will feel and the more quickly one’s body will respond. If you are getting massage to address chronic muscular tension, recovery from a soft tissue injury or to support chiropractic care, more than one session is usually needed, so be prepared to schedule several sessions.
